Friends Of Carnwath

"We have a deep appreciation of nature and historic preservation"

We are members of the community, both within Wappinger and beyond, who have a deep appreciation of nature and historic preservation.

We recognize Carnwath for the gift it is: a lovely and peaceful landscape offering Hudson River views, passive recreation and access to nature within the Wheeler Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

We come from varied backgrounds and welcome new members.

We put time and care into selecting our new logo, which we believe represents us and the beautiful 99.7-acre park we strive to beautify and protect.

First, the deer represents the nature of the park, which is home to numerous kinds of birds and wildlife with its lush trees, shrubs and trails. And, yes – you might see a deer or two there.

Next, look closely and you will see a silhouette of a person’s face within the front line of the deer’s graceful neck. Of course, this represents the people who will come to and enjoy the park, hopefully inspiring them to join our organization to help us keep moving forward in our plans.

Lastly, notice that the overall shape of the deer is a cursive ‘C’, for Carnwath, bringing nature and people artfully together.

We think this logo is classic, beautiful, and positions us well now and into the future.
